    The 20′s Part 3: Wu-Tang Clan

    • by Tello
    • June 12, 2012

My dear JustRecognize family, we’re back with a segment that did not have the intention of being continued when we first started it. Originally, The 20′s Playlists were strictly for that 3rd week of April, but because questions kept arising as to when the next 20′s Playlist would drop, we’ve decided to re-install them into our list of playlists. Today’s playlist strictly consists of a legendary rap group by the name of the Wu-Tang Clan. My first time ever enjoying anything Wu-Tang was little over a year ago, during the summer of 2011. Since then, My Wu-Tang collection has stretched to nearly 200 tracks, including the first vinyl record I purchased on my own of their first album, Enter The Wu-Tang (36-Chambers). Listening to all of these songs & searching for the most listener-friendly tracks for some time now, I was able to cram some of the most classic Wu-Bangaz into a list of 20 songs. My initial tracklist started at around 31 songs, but after hours of trail & error, I’ve found that this dub is much more fitting. Enjoy the Wu-Tang sound including everything from the soul influenced methods of Ghostface Killah & RZA, to the gritty rawness of the clan’s early days together, to the cold-hearted Kung-Fu styles of GZA & Raekwon da Chef, & of course, the belligerent, slurred styles of Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Through this playlist, you’ll be able to experience the Wu as not just a group of thugs hauling from the slums of Staten Island, but as the soulful dudes that they grew up being & the true fore-bringers of today’s rugged Hip-Hop music.

Hint: When Listening to GZA, the intro’s to the songs are just as important as the songs themselves. Bear with them.
